Personalised cakes in Peterborough, for whatever you're celebrating
I bake personalised cakes in Peterborough for every occasion: weddings, birthdays, christenings, baby showers, office parties and everything in between. Personalised here means hand-decorated to your brief, names, ages and themes built by hand, never a photo printed onto icing. You tell me the occasion, the date and roughly how many people, and I come back with a firm price within a day. You won't get a "starting from" price that doubles once you want it to look nice.
(one oven, four hands, for now)
Occasion cakes for every kind of celebration
These are the occasions I'm asked about most. If yours isn't here (an anniversary, a graduation, a Tuesday that deserves better), the enquiry works exactly the same way.

Weddings
Tiered sponge, cupcake towers, or the rum-soaked fruit cake that came down through the family. I take a small number of weddings so each cake gets my full attention, delivered and set up at your venue.

Made to order in Peterborough
Order a cake made for your day
Some things cannot be put in a basket, and this is where those live. Wedding cakes, birthday cakes with a theme to match, catering for a room full of people, a grazing table built on site. You tell me the date and the headcount, I quote you properly, and nothing is booked until we both know what we have agreed.
How it works
- 1. You tell me about it. The form below, with your date and roughly how many people. A photo or a Pinterest board helps.
- 2. I quote you. Usually within a day, in writing, with what it includes and what it costs. Ask me anything before you commit.
- 3. A deposit holds the date. Once we have agreed, I send you a link to pay it and the date is yours. An enquiry on its own does not hold it. A 50% deposit secures your date and is what starts the baking. The balance is due a week before you collect, or before I deliver. A £100 booking fee holds your wedding date. It comes off the price rather than being an extra charge, and the balance is due four weeks before the wedding.
- 4. I bake it. Ordering inside the balance window means the whole thing is paid up front instead, which is how the rest of the trade handles short notice.
If you have to cancel
- More than a month ahead: I keep the deposit or booking fee only.
- Inside a month: I keep half the total, because the date is now hard to fill.
- Inside a week: The full price stands: the shopping is done and the baking is under way.
Weddings get a step in between. A tasting box, £30.00, six flavours posted to you so you can decide at home. The cost comes off your cake if you order within ninety days.
Start an enquiry
Nothing here commits you to anything. The more you can tell me about the date and the number of people, the more useful my first reply will be.
For the table
Grazing tables
A long table of things to pick at, filled with my own baking, never a shop platter. Choux puffs, savoury pastries and small sweet things, baked fresh for your date and sized to your guest list.

Savoury
- Sausage rollsLamb with rosemary and garlic, cut small so nobody has to commit to a whole one.
- Beef and chicken pastellesSeasoned meat in a soft cornmeal casing.
- Hand-crimped piesBeef, chicken, or the vegetarian one with cheese, potato, carrot, sweetcorn and peas.
- Garlic breadSoft bread with garlic butter, torn rather than sliced.
Sweet
- Cream-filled choux puffsFilled choux, piled up the way they come out of the oven.
- Brownies and blondiesCut into squares small enough to pick up.
- Butter cookiesVanilla and lemon zest, or whatever the season suggests.
- CupcakesHand-piped, in colours matched to your table.
Tell me how many people, the date, and whether you want it leaning sweet or savoury, and I'll put a selection and a price together. Boards, stands and anything I don't bake myself are worth a conversation first.
Enquire about a grazing tableHow big a cake do you actually need?
Most people work backwards from the guest list. A party slice is a proper dessert wedge; a finger portion is the thinner wedding-style slice that makes the same cake go further.
The portion table
| Size | Party slices | Finger portions |
|---|---|---|
| 6 inch | 10–12 | 15 |
| 8 inch | 16–20 | 24 |
| 10 inch | 26–30 | 38 |
| 12 inch | 40–44 | 56 |
Planning from a guest list? The blog walks through how much cake you actually need, size by size.
Not sure? Send the guest count with your enquiry and I'll recommend a size, with a firm price back within a day.

Christmas 2026

How do I order a personalised cake in Peterborough?
Send the enquiry form on this page with your date, the number of people and what you have in mind. I reply with a quote, usually within a day. Once we have agreed it, a booking deposit holds your date and comes off the final price.
How far in advance should I order?
About two weeks for a celebration cake, four for a large or heavily decorated one, and two to three months for a wedding. Event catering wants about four weeks. Ask about shorter notice anyway, because some weeks have room.
Do you charge a deposit?
Yes, and it follows what the rest of the trade does. A 50% deposit secures your date and is what starts the baking. The balance is due a week before you collect, or before I deliver. A £100 booking fee holds your wedding date. It comes off the price rather than being an extra charge, and the balance is due four weeks before the wedding. I only ask once we have agreed what I am making and what it costs, and sending an enquiry does not hold the date on its own.
What happens if I have to cancel?
Deposits and booking fees are non-refundable, because holding your date means turning other work away. What I keep is proportionate to how close we are: more than a month ahead, i keep the deposit or booking fee only. inside a month, i keep half the total, because the date is now hard to fill. inside a week, the full price stands: the shopping is done and the baking is under way. If your date moves rather than disappears, tell me and I will do my best to move with you.
Do you deliver personalised cakes?
Collection in Peterborough is free. Local delivery is priced in your quote, so you see the exact figure in writing before you pay anything. Wedding cakes are delivered and set up at the venue.
Can I taste the cake before a wedding?
Yes. There is a tasting box posted to you with six flavours in it, so you can decide at home rather than in somebody's shop. If you order within ninety days the cost comes off your cake.
The short version
Custom cakes in Peterborough, properly done
Sploffin is a small-batch bakery making celebration and occasion cakes in Peterborough to order, for weddings, birthdays, christenings, baby showers, hen dos and corporate events. Every enquiry gets a firm quote within a day, and once the design is agreed, the number I send is the number you pay.
Sizing starts from your guest list. Round cakes run from a 6-inch that serves 10–12 party slices to a 12-inch that serves 40–44. The portion table above shows every size in both party and finger portions, so you can pick one yourself or send me the guest count and let me recommend. Birthday cakes need two weeks of notice as a rule; wedding cakes are best booked two to three months ahead.
50% deposit to book. A 50% deposit secures your date and is what starts the baking. The balance is due a week before you collect, or before I deliver. Nothing is charged while you are still deciding: the quote comes first, and the deposit is what turns an enquiry into a date in the book.
Collection is in Peterborough, and delivery covers Peterborough and the surrounding PE postcodes, priced in your quote. Wedding cakes include delivery and set-up at the venue, so the first time you lift a finger is when you cut it.
