Vanilla bean with real vanilla buttercream, and a deep chocolate sponge that people come back for. Beyond those, most things are possible — lemon, red velvet, coffee, coconut. Some of our best flavours came from a customer asking for something we'd never made, so ask.

Cupcakes suit the occasions a big cake doesn't: an office celebration where nobody wants to find a knife, a dessert table that needs height and colour, a christening where guests come and go. For weddings we can match your colours and set them out as a tower, with a small cutting cake if you want the photograph.
Recipes from my grandmother's kitchen
I grew up in Trinidad and learned to bake beside my grandmother, who catered weddings and christenings across the island. I started taking my own orders at fifteen. Sploffin is that kitchen brought to Peterborough — which is why some of what we make, like the black cake at Christmas, you won't find in a supermarket.

Sploffin cupcakes are £4.00 each, with a minimum order of 24 cupcakes in up to 2 flavours — so a standard order is £96.00. That covers hand-piped buttercream and sugar-work decoration, not a supermarket swirl. Elaborate colour-matching or figures on top may cost more, and we will say so before you commit.
How much notice do you need for a cupcake order?
About a week is comfortable for most cupcake orders in Peterborough, and longer for detailed decoration. It's always worth asking about short notice — if the kitchen is free, we'll take it.
Do you deliver cupcakes in Peterborough?
Yes. Delivery is a £3 minimum, then 55p a mile from the city centre — HMRC's approved mileage rate, so you are paying for the distance rather than a guess. Vegan cupcakes, yes — we already bake a vegan carrot cake and can adapt other recipes. Gluten-free is possible but our kitchen also handles wheat, so we can't guarantee a coeliac-safe environment. We'll always tell you honestly rather than take a risk with someone's health.
Can I order fewer than 24 cupcakes?
No — 24 cupcakes is the minimum, in up to 2 flavours, so each flavour is a full tray baked properly rather than a handful of odds and ends. Cupcakes are made to order only and don't appear in the weekly drop, which is sheet cake by the slice and other fresh bakes.
