Yes, on cakes made to order. A 50% deposit secures your date and is what starts the baking. The balance is due a week before you collect, or before I deliver. A £100 booking fee holds your wedding date. It comes off the price rather than being an extra charge, and the balance is due four weeks before the wedding. Nothing is charged while you are still deciding. You get a firm quote first, and the deposit is what turns an enquiry into a date in the book. Bakes ordered from a pop-up menu work differently: those are a published price and paid in full, with no deposit involved.

Sploffin's pop-up prices sit in five bands: buns at £3.00, cake by the slice at £4.00, meat pies at £5.00, cookie boxes at £5.00 and vegetarian pies & sausage rolls at £4.00. Everything is baked just for your order, and you order online before the cut-off shown on the pop-up page. Cupcakes are the exception: they are made to order only, £4.00 each with a minimum of 24 cupcakes, and never appear at a pop-up. The ready-made box of 12 on the cupcake box page is the one exception to the minimum.

Each £18 box slides through the letterbox as a large letter, so nobody needs to be in, and its postage is £3.60. A box of 12 cupcakes is £42 and goes by DPD courier to the UK mainland.

At least three days ahead, because everything is baked for your order rather than taken off a shelf. You choose the arrival day at checkout, Tuesday to Friday, and you can book up to a year ahead, which is handy for a birthday you already know about. For letterbox gifts the day is an aim rather than a promise, because the last mile is Royal Mail's.

Yes. Put their address at checkout and add your message, up to 300 characters, and I write it by hand on a card that goes in the box, free. There is never an invoice or a price inside a gift, so the person opening it finds the bake and your words, not the receipt. A slim box slides through their letterbox, so nobody has to be in.

The last day to order for Christmas is 18 December. Orders open on 1 October, and collection and delivery run from 1 November, on the day you choose at checkout. The Jamaican rum fruit cake, festive cookies, brownies and the rest of the Christmas menu are all baked to order, posted UK-wide or collected free in Peterborough.

Sploffin makes cupcakes, birthday cakes and wedding cakes to order in Peterborough, and letterbox gifts posted UK-wide: lemon loaf cake, banana bread, brownies, cookies and a mixed treats box. Every Sploffin order goes out with a full allergen label to UK PPDS requirements, so you always know exactly what's in your bake. Everything is baked in a home kitchen where all 14 major allergens are present, including nuts.
