The flavours
What is in each one
Vanilla & strawberry jam
Vanilla bean sponge · Vanilla buttercream, strawberry jam
The one people underestimate until they eat it. Real vanilla in the sponge and in the buttercream, piped into a tall swirl, with a spoon of strawberry jam hidden in the middle so it eats like a Victoria sponge you can hold. Nothing hiding behind a flavour, which means the butter and the vanilla have to be good. They are.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk. Can be made vegan.
See the flavour →Chocolate, coffee & caramel
Deep chocolate sponge · Coffee buttercream, caramel, chocolate shavings
Coffee and chocolate have been getting along for a very long time, and this is my version. A deep chocolate sponge under coffee buttercream, with caramel over the top and chocolate shavings to finish. The coffee keeps it from going too sweet, so it suits the people at the party who claim they do not really like cake.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk. Can be made vegan.
See the flavour →Red velvet
Red velvet sponge · White chocolate buttercream, white chocolate curls, velvet crumb
Proper red velvet, with the little tang of buttermilk that stops the colour being the only thing going on. White chocolate buttercream on top, then white chocolate curls and a scatter of red velvet crumb made from the sponge trimmings, so nothing goes in the bin and the top of the cake tells you what is underneath it. The white chocolate is sweet enough to stand up to the cocoa without taking it over.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk, Soya.
See the flavour →Chocolate orange
Orange sponge · Orange zest buttercream, candied chocolate orange
Orange sponge with the zest going in at the creaming stage, which is when it gives up the most flavour. Orange zest buttercream on top and a piece of candied chocolate orange to finish. It smells like Christmas morning and sells all year round anyway.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk.
See the flavour →Lemon
Lemon sponge · Lemon buttercream, lemon curd centre
Lemon sponge with a spoon of lemon curd hidden in the middle, so the first bite is sharper than the look of it suggests, then lemon buttercream on top. This is the one that disappears first at a summer table and the one most people ask me for by name.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk.
See the flavour →Salted caramel
Vanilla sponge · Salted caramel buttercream, caramel drizzle, sea salt
Caramel cooked properly, which mostly means standing over the pan and not walking away from it. It goes into the buttercream and over the top, with a few flakes of sea salt so the sweetness has something to push against. If you are ordering for a crowd and cannot decide, put this in the box.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk.
See the flavour →Carrot cake
Spiced carrot sponge · Cinnamon buttercream, toasted walnut
Carrot, cinnamon and a little nutmeg, kept properly moist, under a cinnamon buttercream with a toasted walnut on top. The spice in the icing picks up the spice in the sponge, so it tastes of one thing rather than two. It is the flavour that wins over the relatives who say they would rather have something savoury.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk, Walnut. Contains walnut. Can be made vegan.
See the flavour →Caramelised biscuit
Vanilla sponge · Caramelised biscuit buttercream, biscuit crumb
The spiced caramelised biscuit everyone knows from the side of a coffee cup, whipped through buttercream until it tastes like the bottom of the jar. Vanilla sponge underneath, biscuit crumb and a whole biscuit on top. Made with Lotus Biscoff spread and biscuits.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk, Soya.
See the flavour →Strawberries & cream
Vanilla sponge · Strawberry buttercream, freeze-dried strawberry
Real strawberry through the buttercream rather than anything from a bottle, on a vanilla sponge, finished with freeze-dried strawberry for a bit of crunch and a colour that is pink because of the fruit. Summer parties and baby showers order this one two boxes at a time.
Allergens: Wheat, Egg, Milk.

Questions people ask
How much is a box of 12 cupcakes?
£42.00 for 12 handmade cupcakes, which is £3.50 each. Collection in Peterborough is free; posting anywhere on the UK mainland is priced by your postcode at checkout. My made-to-order cupcakes cost a little more each, because matching colours to a theme and inventing a flavour for you is more work than baking from this list.
Can I choose the flavours myself?
Yes, that is the whole idea. Take two from the list and the box comes 6 and 6, or put all 12 on one flavour if that is what you are after. For more than two flavours across a bigger order, send me a message and I will sort it.
Do you post cupcakes?
Yes, anywhere on the UK mainland, by DPD on a next-day service, and every flavour on the list can travel. They go at room temperature in a tall box with a tray that holds each cupcake by its base, so the swirls arrive the way they left. All the icings are buttercream, which is happy out of the fridge for the day it spends in a van.
How far in advance should I order cupcakes?
Give me a few days. You choose the day you want them at the checkout, and I bake to that date rather than baking ahead and hoping, so the box is made the day it goes out.
Can I collect cupcakes in Peterborough?
Yes, and collection is free. You pick a time slot at checkout. The exact pop-up collection spot in Peterborough is confirmed with your order.
Do you make vegan cupcakes?
Vanilla, chocolate and carrot can all be made vegan, iced with buttercream made with vegan butter. Say so in the notes when you order and I will bake them that way.
Allergens, and the bigger orders
Everything is baked in a home kitchen where all 14 major allergens are present, including nuts. Across the cupcake list that means egg, milk, soya, walnut, wheat. The full detail is on the allergens page. Planning something bigger, or want a flavour that is not here? The made-to-order cupcake page covers colour matching, towers and larger numbers.
